Scientists predict 10 biggest winners in world’s biggest cities in 2031

A city where anyone can buy a house and get residency, a super-rich destination because of a hot sex industry, or an economic hotspot surrounded by beautiful beaches?

What’s it about?

Well, that’s a tough question but according to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s new cities of the future, it’s easy to decide who is more likely to be the new ‘old’ world’s biggest gainers — cities like New York, London, Paris and Tokyo.

A city that has their sights set on upgrading the places they live and travel to.

Time for a global look around

The London Business School’s Managing Director Professor for International Development, Jan du Plessis said: “It has been the great success story, that this millennial generation is turning urbanization into a boom, a trend that had been dimming for some years. We’re so successful at attracting talented people that it became the driver of urbanization.”

The Europe is in the top five for 2021 according to the report, along with cities like Moscow, Tokyo, and Shanghai. And, Rome is expected to advance to second place with Berlin third.

The economists project that over the next few years, these cities will thrive.

Mathematics major, Ben Slapper, says China will take the lead with a huge leap in growth.

“Right now, I think that China is doing really well and they’ve just sort of reached the peak,” Slapper said. “They’re obviously at their zenith right now and so I think they’re probably going to take the lead.”
