Chelsea take on Zenit St Petersburg in the first leg of their Champions League group stage clash
Is Zenit vs Chelsea on TV tonight? Kick-off time, channel and how to watch Champions League fixture
The 2017-18 season in football kicks off at 5pm GMT (UK time) this Saturday as Premier League giants Manchester City and Liverpool square off at Anfield.
But tonight in Europe, arguably the biggest clash of the whole weekend could be the high-quality 1-1 draw between Chelsea and last season’s runners-up, Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League.
Goalkeeper Petr Cech may be at odds with Eden Hazard over the new face of English football, as the Belgium international missed out on a substitute’s run up from Cech in the shootout but eventually picked himself up and bagged the winner. Meanwhile Nemanja Matic is unbeaten for Chelsea in his last 12 appearances in all competitions and the team seem to grow in stature after every setback.
Chelsea as favourites would seem to be wise but, in football, it’s not all about quids in and being prepared for anything. As they proved in Moscow, they can be victims as well as winners.
